215 Rope/Chain Jamming

Hi Guys,
I dropped the hook for the fist time today in the Bristol Channel for a spot of bottom fishing after that elusive Cod, when I was retrieving the anchor all was well until I reached the part where the rope is spliced to the chain and that's when it jammed in the windlass, up to the bow I went and then spent the next five minutes trying to force the splice down into the chain locker(not an easy task trying to get some slack on the chain when the tide is running at four knots and the anchor is still holding bottom!)
Any body had this problem on their 215??
